Are You Suffering from Spiritual Malnutrition?
Emptiness. Longing for inspiration. Needing deep change. Feeling lost.
These are but a few of the symptoms that arise when our spiritual life is sending out hunger pains.
We all suffer from spiritual malnutrition at times. Unfortunately, we often wait until a crisis hits before we do anything about it.
Opening up to our spiritual resources, only after the crisis hits, is the equivalent of only eating after we are starving. Just as we need daily food to nourish our bodies, we need regular spiritual food to nourish our souls.
Fortunately, life has a built-in reminder system: Every difficult experience, every painful emotion, is a reminder. Each can be a gift. Each can be a bell that wakes us from our spiritual slumber.
And we don’t need to drop to our knees and do a hundred Hail Mary’s when the bell goes off. We don’t need to meditate for 20 minutes, or recalibrate our dysfunctional beliefs. The next step can be much simpler.
HELP! Yes, help. When the stress bell rings, ask for help.
When HELP! is expressed as a prayer it opens us up to Divine connection. As one of my teachers said, “I don’t care what you call it as long as you call on it.”
When HELP! is genuinely offered as a Divine request for assistance, it opens our hearts to receive comfort. It tunes our hearts to receive Divine guidance.
Yes, the heart received comfort and hears the Divine in ways the head never can.
The prayer of HELP! starts a chain reaction that is life-changing: From Divine connection to spiritual nurture. From spiritual nurture to Transcendent guidance.
HELP! opens us to a banquet of spiritual nourishment.
So, the next time you are stressed or suffering, open the portal to the Divine by simply asking for help.
