Are you a functional atheist?
A functional atheist is someone who functions as if there is no God; as if there is no Divine reality or guidance.
I spend much of my day as a functional atheist. How about you?
It’s strange to think that highly spiritual or religious people keep their Higher Power in solitary confinement. Only occasionally offering a little water or morsel of bread.
I got to thinking about this after reading the following from the back of a book:
“What if the Divine is constantly igniting roadside flares to get our attention? What if there actually is a Supreme Organizing Principle with an unbridled sense of humor? And what if we each have this ardent inner suitor who’s writing us love letters every day that often go unopened?”
I’m certain there is much, much more going on within and around us than we realize. Our habits of thought, our worries, our distractions have us reaching for peanuts when there is a lush banquet spread out before us.
I invite you to feast on your life. To look for the oddities and serendipities that may well be love letters from your Divine suitor.
I also invite you to feast on Tosha Silver’s fun, profound, and easy to read book entitled: Outrageous Openness: Letting the Divine Take the Lead.
Here’s a link to the book, and here’s to opening up!
