enneagram typing sessions
Trying to figure out what your type actually is?
One of the primary challenges for people new to the Enneagram is determining there type. There are many tests, inventories and tools available to help people do this. Then why is it so hard to figure out our type? (I thought I was a 5 for 6 months before realizing I’m actually a type 9)
All these typing tools are attempting to read who we are in our personalities, our egos. This is a highly complex task! Other typing models, like the Myers-Briggs or Strengths Finders, are typically assessing behaviors or presences, which are easier to determine. The Enneagram is seeking to assess the underlying motivations that drive our behaviors, which is a very tricky thing to find.
The main reason it’s difficult is that we tend to take these inventories and test with our egos, and they always want to be and look good, but they are not a true reflection of our essential self. So getting to this deeper level of essence, and the ways that our egos are working against that, is the task when it comes to typing.
My typing sessions will use a variety of tools, questions, comparisons, to help you get to this deeper level. For some the recognition of type is fairly immediate when the right questions are asked. For others, it’s more a process of trial and error, and, in a sense, teasing out a shy animal from the woods.
First, if you want to explore you type on your own, check out my page on “Finding Your Enneagram Type.” If you want a guided session with me, read on . . . .
How does a typing session work? I work with you through a two-phase process:
I email you an initial typing survey that you complete at home, and also suggest an online tool.
We meet in person or over Zoom for follow-up debriefing session where we seek to confirm your type and then explore your common struggle and growth opportunities that come with your type.
Each of these sessions are tailored to the specific interests and concerns that you have.
Cost for an individual 60-minute typing session is $150
