Letting go: the pathway of surrender by David R. Hawkins

It can seem ridiculous to suggest that the most helpful response to an anxious mind or heart is to “let go”. But I’m going to do so, in part because I have found the practice of letting go to be so important in keeping my life in some kind of balance.
This is leading me to offer a weekly book study, with hope that it will be grounding for people as we navigate highly anxious days in 2025.
The guide for this process will be David R. Hawkins, who is the author of Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender. This is a book that many of us have found powerful, and I know reading and rereading it will be a spiritual anchor and guide in the midst of expected national turmoil.
The book explores the process of releasing negative emotions and attachments in order to access peace and deepen our spiritual alignment. Hawkins presents a method of surrendering the grip of emotional blockages, including fear, anger, guilt, and shame.
At the core of his material is the idea that by letting go of personal attachments, judgments, and desires, we can access higher states of consciousness, leading to more profound inner peace, love, and alignment with our true self.
Hawkins’ profound spectrum of emotions is integrated into my Awareness V Map. So if you have found my Map helpful, you will be invited into it more deeply through this book study, showing how different emotions and mental states correspond to specific energy levels, with surrender being a powerful way to raise one’s consciousness.
How will the book study work?
We will meet over Zoom on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 CST.
The book is essentially divided into 22 chapters, and we will explore one each week we meet.
We will begin each session with a grounding/centering time.
I will provide 5 Key Insights that I have gleaned from each chapter. I will share them in our sessions, and then provide them by email following the session.
During the session, I will invite each participant to share an insight that they have found helpful.
We will enter into a group discussion about how the theme of the week is informing and supporting our lives.
At the end of the 22 sessions, I will share a document that contains all 110 Key Insights from Hawkins’ Letting Go book.

More Details
Do I need to attend every session? NO. It is assumed that people will come and go as they are able. You are not expected to be available for all 22 groups. And I will have a few weeks where the group will be on pause due to my schedule.
Do I need to read the book? NO. Some people are not readers. You are still welcome, though of course I will recommend your reading as much as possible. The chapters tend to be around 12–16 pages long.
Cost: I will be investing a fair amount of time in this and I also want it to be affordable for whoever wants to participate (I don’t want money to be a barrier).
