Melanie McRae, Bright Heart yoga

The Back Story

After practicing yoga for many years, Melanie decided to deepen her practice by receiving training. Little did she know it would lead her to teach classes!

After many years of work with seniors in long term care, church, hospital, and hospice setting, Melanie decided to blend her two loves of elders and yoga and start teaching Senior Yoga.

Now she teaches two classes a week that are available to you online through Zoom (both classes) and in person in Minneapolis (the Monday class).

Melanie’s Practice & Work

Melanie has been teaching since 2012. She trained for teaching at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis where, in addition to her 230 hours of study, she did further study in Yin and Restorative yoga styles. In teaching, Melanie loves the opportunity to modify a practice so that people with a variety of needs can enjoy the benefits of yoga.

Melanie's favorite personal practices are Vinyasa and Yin. She loves yoga for its healing and centering qualities. When she is not teaching yoga or walking her dogs, Melanie offers spiritual direction and grief support through Sojourners Institute, and she works as a hospice grief counselor.
