Staying In Your Lane When Things are Crazy

When the traffic is crazy, it’s best to stay in your lane. (And in this post election season, the mental and emotional traffic is really crazy.)

It’s essential, when the external circumstances are crazy-making, to come back to your deep, grounded inner knowing and to the work that is uniquely yours to do - that’s your lane.

We each have the chance to go on an inner journey, in which we’re seeking to harmonize our ego and our Soul. If we say yes to this journey it can guide us to discovering what our “lane” is in life.

Finding our lane is about tapping into the potential of our unique inner knowing. Then we use that knowing to identify the work and contributions that we are called to do, and not do, in this world.

There are so many important causes begging for our attention. There are powerful people calling us into important work. Staying in our lane is about sorting what is and is not ours to do.

There are four key benefits to staying in our lane:

  1. Boundaries: Intentionally clarifying our knowing and our work enables us to give greater energy to what really matters to us, and to let go of what is not ours to do.

  2. Power: Claiming our knowing and our work is a way we claim our power, and use it wisely.

  3. Aligned Ease: Staying in our knowing and our work is how we align with our authentic souls. If we can do this, we can find more ease and effectiveness in general in our lives.

  4. Community: When we are in the wrong lane, we often don’t feel a resonance with others in that lane. On the other hand, when we do find our authentic knowing and work, we make fulfilling connections with others.

It’s also important to remember that in the spiritual realm, the ordinary has as much significance as the extraordinary. Your lane may be very simple, common, close-at-hand work. Checking in on the neighbor, reading beautiful stories to a toddler, giving some time, money, or clothes to local free store.

The authentic soul work, of finding and living out of our unique lane, is one of the key aims of my upcoming Sacred Journeys group. It’s a group devoted to supporting each of us in setting boundaries, aligning with our natural power, experiencing more ease, and doing it all in a caring, supportive community.

Maybe you’re not even sure what your lane might be - especially when we’re stuck in the static of anxiety, it’s not always easy to know. This class is about helping you discover your unique source of inner knowing, so you can go on to carry out your sacred work.

The monthly zoom group starts on Friday, December 13th, and the application deadline is November 29th. Click here for more information, and check out the video below - I hope to see you there!
