Spiritual Direction Supervision & COACHING

During my time with Scott, I have leaned into the possibility of yes. He holds up a mirror to remind me of my sacred self in moments when my recognition grows dim. I continue to be grateful for choosing the blessing of spiritual direction with Scott. - Mara

For Individuals & Groups

Are you a spiritual director who would value and enjoy some support, educations and inspiration?

If so I’d love to work with you, because I love the work of supporting and empowering spiritual directors. I’ve made supervision a cornerstone of my professional career. I’ve been doing various forms of spiritual mentoring for over 30 years, with over 500 individuals, and over 4500 hours of supervising spiritual work. I help you find and utilize your buried treasures as a spiritual director. What is “the more” that is just waiting for you to discover?

Through the work of supervision, its my aim to reinforce your areas of strength as a spiritual director, and to discover and free up potentials and untapped strengths.

How I will work with you

My style is inquisitive, direct, non-judgmental, and compassionate. Along with my certificate in spiritual direction, I have training in spiritual counseling, coaching, leadership, and the Enneagram. I use these resources to tailor our sessions to how you most want to grow as a spiritual director.

I believe the fundamental dynamic in spiritual guidance work is presence. I will help you grow your capacity for presencing with clients, so you can help them access greater presence in their lives.

We’ll explore how your mind, body, emotions, and intuitions are potent pathways for guidance, and for opening to Divine Presence. And, we’ll listen for the ways that the Divine is uniquely speaking to you and working through you.

There was a period where I felt my spiritual direction had grown tired. I felt stuck. Uninspired. I sought out supervision and after two sessions I was an entirely different spiritual director. I loved my client work again. That small investment in myself made a huge difference in my practice that continues to this day.

What is spiritual direction supervision / coaching?

I see the words “supervision” and “coaching” to be similar and different.

  • Supervision refers to work where we explore your current practice and dissect what is and isn’t working for you.

  • Coaching as more of a future focus and looks at, for example, how you might grow your practice or expand your offerings.

In both cases, I start with the conviction that you know best what you need. You have the skills and wisdom that are the transformative agents in our work together. It’s my aim to reinforce your areas of strength as a spiritual director, to activate your deep knowing, and to help you discover and free up potentials and untapped strengths.

Individual Supervision & Coaching

Scott has an uncanny ability to get at the root of the issue. His years of experience working with hospital patients, chaplains, seminarians, students, and clients naturally shines through in his thoughtful questions, observations and comments. I often seek Scott’s wise counsel to help resolve my concerns. - Helen

Individual sessions provide us with concentrated time to focus on enhancing your skills as well as the practical side of your spiritual direction practice or business (a key aspect that is often overlooked in spiritual direction supervision!).

  • The fee for a 55 minute supervision session is $150.

  • I request payment for last-minute cancellations.

Group Supervision & Coaching

I approach group supervision with the same mindset and approach that I bring to individual supervision. Whereas groups lack the concentrated focus of individual sessions, they add the richness of group support, collegiality, and a wider base of perspectives.

It’s not just Scott’s wisdom or skill as a spiritual director that is exceptional, but also his presence. Scott’s grace, love and acceptance have been powerful and profoundly healing for me. His guidance has a way of helping me to get in touch with my own inner teacher within and always inspires me be who I am and live out my truth with hope. Thanks Scott. - Bill

The group experience generates awareness, insight, and wisdom that is well beyond any single individual.

These sessions include:

  • A small gathering of people who are passionate about the joys and challenges of spiritual guidance work

  • Education about best practices for client work, spiritual guidance practices, and running a spiritual direction practice

  • Consultation on how to deal with challenges that arise with your clients and your practice

  • Tools and tips for how to enhance and deepen your work with clients

  • Tools and tips for how to invigorate and grow your practice

The fee for supervision groups is determined by the size of the group and length of the session.

How often will we meet?

Individuals meet as needed, with monthly sessions being the most effective. Groups meet monthly for 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on group size.

How are groups formed?

You can either form your own group and contact me, or you can let me know of your interest and I will look to join you in a group with others.
